ELL Plan (This plan
addresses the needs of students living in homes where English is not the
primary language.)
The Gibson County School District offers a full
spectrum of services to students with disabilities from age three through
twenty-one. In accordance with state and federal laws, each student in
special education is provided a free, appropriate, public education in the
least restrictive environment. Details about programs available in
each community can be obtained from the local school
or by contacting the district office.
> Special education services available in all schools
> Special education resource teachers for students with mild to
moderate disabilities
> 5 teachers for more comprehensive services to students with moderate to
severe disabilities
> Comprehensive services located in three age-appropriate schools
> Transportation provided by specially equipped buses
> 3 speech pathologists to assist with articulation and language
development
> Support network of 17 educational assistants
> Contractual arrangements with physical, occupational, and other
educationally related therapists
> County-wide services include:
* school psychologist services
* social worker
* director of special programs
* 2 clerical workers
* consulting teacher
Gibson County School District has cooperative
agreements with
TEIS, Headstart, and LeBonheur Childrens Services
