The Gibson County School District currently maintains 9 high-speed computer
networks with over 700 computers. Each school is connected to the
internet with a full T-1 connection providing high speed internet access for
all students and staff. The district currently averages 4 students per
computer. Labs are available in all schools, in addition to computers
in all classrooms.
Partnerships with community groups, businesses, and local PTO's have allowed
schools to keep hardware as up to date as possible. The school
district has provided software at each school to assist teachers as they
work with their students.
One of the district's current objectives centers around providing projection
devices in each classroom in K-8 schools. Additional LCD
projectors are being added to our high school as well. Our goal in
instructional technology is to apply the use of technology in classrooms as
a common practice. Ideally, the classroom would mirror the world outside,
and students will perform equally at ease in either environment.
